Introduction |
|
Forest Conservation by Livelihood Development in Zanzibar (LIVE project) is a co-operation development project between a Finnish organization – Turku Geographical Society – and Zanzibar government institution – Department of Commercial Crops, Fruits and Forestry. This project addresses both community livelihoods improvement and biodiversity conservation issues around the villages of Kiwengwa-Pongwe Forest Reserve. The immediate objective is to achieve economic empowerment of local communities in order to improve their family incomes without compromising nature conservation of the forest reserve. The project will initiate and facilitate various enterprises and build capacity of local women and men and strengthen community conservation groups to take part in the development activities. From these web pages you can find more information about the project and also additional links and contact information if you would like to know more about Zanzibar and Kiwengwa-Pongwe Forest Reserve. |
